Art Statement

For me, art is the way of recreating the world around me. Recreating it in a manner that satisfies my sense of what the world should look like. I try to capture, in a different language, my feelings as a way of recording their power so that I can recall and release them later through my art. This is the way of sharing my sense of the world with others. My goal as an artist is to communicate the best I can with the public and to establish a permanent dialog between my paintings and their heart.

Texture is a fundamental element in my artwork since it adds a spatial component to my paintings. I like to combine artificial textures created with modeling pastes and gels, plasters, Venetian stucco, or pumice with natural textures such as wrinkled paper, sand, cork, or leather. Natural textures introduce an organic component in my artworks that contrast with industrial elements. Also, I like to add to my paintings multiple layers of color that help to create a dramatic atmosphere full of mystery.
